Look at that. Those wide hips, that elegant roofline, the smoothly creased and crisp sheetmetal. The OH MY GOD
What’s wrong with your faaaaaaaace?!?!
Actually, believe it or not, the usual Lexus insanity up front isn’t the biggest problem. I like the eye-of-Horus headlights and even the predatormouth grille doesn’t bother me here. From most angles it’s an incredibly elegant vehicle...
...until you look at it in profile. Everything is just... awkward. The cabin is located a bit too far forward, the rear overhang is just a bit too long, and the entire area in front of the A-pillar needs reworked. And the wheels are ugly.
On the plus side the interior is beautiful.
And it looks even better in blue.
So I don’t really know. It’s a really frustrating design for me. All in all it’s a gorgeous car but the few negatives are really big negatives.

I actually like the face. It’s different than most other cars on the road.
It would be nice if Lexus actually made it fast enough to compete with the M/AMG/S/V, though.

I like it, it’s an LFA for the “common” man.

I don’t think your eyes are functioning like my eyes, because that car is gorgeous.

Yeah the 1 in 100,000 instead of the 1 in 10,000,000 man.

I still think it’s gorgeous. it’s the only modern Lexus I really like.

I think they should keep it a luxo-cruiser instead of making a performance version of it. Could steal sales away from the non-performance German GT cars.

I like the side profile everything else is a bit too concept car hot wheels...

I don’t get why were are supposed to find this car pretty. I find the enormous disparity between the belt-line and the bottom of the windshield particularly offensive, but there’s a lot more wrong with this car.

Got the chance to crawl around it at a press event in Chicago. It’s basically gorgeous from every angle, as far as I could tell.

Ugh, can’t unsee it now.

Same.

Nope, there’s not a single angle of this car that I don’t love. Inside and out it is an absolute fucking beauty.
Shame that Lexus cars never fucking depreciate all that much though.

I don’t mine the hourglass grille here because it feels like it was designed with it instead of pasted on.

Looks like they went with a Cadillac approach to design it. Using only a rule and no curves.

It’s the only Lexus where the new Lexus design aesthetic actually works.
Though even their ugly cars have beautiful cabins.

My coworker wants one. I’d be surprised if he gets rid of his Carrera S for it though.

Exactly, but with depreciation we may at least get a chance!
![]() 05/09/2016 at 12:53 |

The only bad angle is the side. All the other ones hide the awkwardness.

I think it’s really great too! I just wish they could have fixed the awkwardness of the proportions.

But it’s not awkward looking at all - it’s magnificent.

I’m with you, I dig it.

Same here

I’m with you on this. I think this is a fantastic design.

The LexusMouthFacePredator is growing on me.

I can’t stand it. At all.

I really like it. I think it will age as well as the SC has. The grill might not look so great ten years down the road, but overall I think it’s a classy looking car.

Yeah, I actually think the side profile is a lot better the the front 1/4 view. The rear 1/4 view is nice though, but I don’t like that trim “dripping” off the rear tail light. Also I really think a lower beltline would have made this car just gorgeous.
![]() 05/09/2016 at 13:56 |

I agree. The proportions are very pleasing. But a face only a mother could love...

me gusta and me gusta mucho :)

Looks are objectionable but it also doesn’t have enough power.
![]() 05/09/2016 at 14:40 |

But Toyotas don’t depreciate.
![]() 05/09/2016 at 20:15 |

Raising the beltline to meet the a pillar would do a lot for its looks.

I don’t think the side profile is bad at all. I like the low-slung look that’s carried from front to back, caused by having the hood and boot line higher than the waist of the car.
As usual, the front is gross. I thin that’s the biggest issue. But it’s definitely the best application of the stupid grille. But you can do that on a sports car - similar to how all those Peugeot concepts that never got built made the family snout look presentable.
